Start the new year with a paddle trip on the Silver River. Bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one and take a tour of the Fort King Paddling Trail. Wildlife such as anhinga, herons, egrets, turtles and fish will be seen. Though it may be cold outside on Jan. 1, the spring-fed river is a constant temperature of 72 degrees year-round.
Canoe and kayak rentals are available at the in-park outfitter, Paddling Adventures. For more information on rental rates, please call 352-261-5840.
Admission will be waived for this event. However, for those renting a canoe or kayak, rentals fees apply.
Space is limited to the first 15 participants. Call the Ranger Station at 352-236-7148, ext. 4, to make your reservation.
Enter the park through the main entrance, located at 5656 Silver Springs Blvd. (SR 40), Silver Springs, FL.
