River Rhythms at Silver Springs

You’re invited for an evening full of music and entertainment featuring a live drum circle. Cracker Village Tour – Museum area

Discover what life was like at the turn of the century in the Florida “piney woods.” the cracker homestead is a replica of a 19th century pioneer settlement. This collection of buildings represents a small “Cracker” settlement dating to the 1890s. A typical homestead of the time would have included a cabin and outbuildings such as a barn, pantry, smokehouse and outhouse. Schoolhouses, churches and blacksmith shops would have been found in settlements that homesteaders visited to attend social gatherings…

June 25 Pack Walk Cancelled The pack walk scheduled for the last Sunday in June has been cancelled. No dog flu cases have been reported for Marion County but as a precaution the Animal Services will not hold its regular pack walk event to prevent possible transmission. Florida Safari

Join park staff for a Florida Safari tram tour of the longleaf pine forest. Learn about the park’s land management practices and how we care for our natural resources. Wildlife sightings are common but not guaranteed. Possible fauna seen during this program include white-tailed deer, Gopher Tortoise, Sherman’s fox squirrel and wild turkey. During the tour, you can take a short guided walk on the swamp trail. A park ranger will lead visitors down the boardwalk to the Silver River.…
